The Overdrive Off button on my 2007 X 6 speed doesn't seem to work. Is this a common problem?

No. All features are expected to work on a 3-4 year old truck.
The 6-speed on these trucks locks out both 5th adn 6th gears. The truck should shift normally up to 4th gear.

Can you describe the conditions where you are attempting to lock out OD, and it's doesn't seem to be working?
Speed
Temperature
etc

I have tried the button at 60, 70, 80 mph, it never works. I assume it should work like other vehicles so equipped.

So no light shows up or anything?

Maybe a fuse is blown, the O/D button is dead, or the wire is damaged. I can't think of anything else.

Anybody else had problem with O/D button not working?

I have an 06 and have experienced the same problem. I found that the connector was loose in the center console. To fix it, I opened up the center console and on the passenger's side of the shifter module there is a small junction box about 2"x2"x.5" thick. It has just one connector coming out of it I believe. I pushed the connector firmly into the box and that solved the problem. I have had to do it a couple of times sense then, but everytime the O/D light goes back to working.

Tate - Thanks for the suggestion. I do have the small wrenches to remove center console, if that is what you are talking about.

You need to remove the plastic piece under the gearshift. This piece also contains cupholders. There are only two screws holding it in. They are underneath the storage container lid right where it latches. Once those screws are removed the whole piece should lift right out.

The wires that you are looking for will be on the passengers side of the shifter. They are almost directly under the shifter knob.

I hope that helps.

Tate - I will try this later. Thanks for the advice.

O/D Switch is bad on mine. Tomorrow switch will be installed, about $150.

This was it, thank you! disconnected at the little green pcb and reconnected and presto its working...turns out mine was stuck with OD off, so no better fuel economy but oh well another thing fixed. I sprayed all the connectors with control cleaner to help protect them...noticed some corrosion on a few pins of other connectors. Also someone had spilled a coke or coffee in there, so it was quite the cleanup.
