Well have had great luck here so far, lets see what we can do here.
2001 Sport, the odometer stopped a few weeks ago and reset to zero. It was just turning 100k and I have since put maybe a couple thousand on it. Everything else on the guage pod works fine. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance

The worm gear is probably junk. Someone may have messed with it previously trying to turn back miles and broke some of the spinner nubs on the 6th digit as well.

Thank you very much for the reply, how hard is that worm gear to replace, is that in the tranny or behind the dash? How can I spin it back close to the original miles after? Don't want any discrepancies on the title

if the gear quit, somebody may have tampered with the mechanism, hmm,
does it have the mileage they said it did when you purchased it ??

Well to be truthful I haven't bought it yet, thought about it, the oil change sticker on it is dated 5 months ago and says 97xxx, the guy said it quit at 100k and went back to zero. Your the second person that says it was probably tampered with so I will probably steer clear of this one. Too bad it was a really nice well taken care of truck. Is there anyway to see electronically what the mileage is, or is that only an option that a dealer can do? If the mileage was about right and the gear was an easy fix maybe I could make a good deal on it.

No way to tell without the cluster being correct. Easiest to do is just to replace the entire cluster if you don't know what the true mileage is anyhow, rather than take the mechanism apart and mess with it... They're all over eBay
