I've always heard NOT to gap Platinums due to breaking them. Ford recommends 0.54 and this is what I get...

Uhhh... Gap them?

After work Ill be able to see what are in there now, but figured I "might" get some answers now.

Asked the guy from the parts store, and he seemed pretty baffled. Ford does recommend to use these and gap is .054, but nothing showed up to what the standard gap size is. Basically, just use these type of deal.

Thanks

IIRC, my SP-500 plugs were gapped around .045 straight out of the packages. Regardless of what manufacturers say, NEVER assume plugs are pre-gapped to spec. All it takes is a drop on the snout and it closes the gap. Don't touch the FineWire center electode when adjusting. BTW, perfect plug choice for the SOHC, haven't heard of one single issue using them. Buy $1.49 counter packs and use a very thin layer of copper or nickel anti seize on the threads and a light coat of dielectric grease on the plug ceramics. Also remove the passenger tire to access #3 . Good for at least another 70K.
