'98 explorer sport rust
Hey all. I have been doing a ot of research on these forums, and I can't seem to find the right information for my question

I have a 98 explorer sport (4wd) all stock, and I was going to get es3000 shocks from 4wheelparts(dot com). But after I ordered them, I got a call from someone there saying that they didn't make shocks for my model and year....

SO my question(s): I do mostly road driving, but I a also have been just getting into off roading a lot - I don't care at all what the ride on the road is like, it could be as bumpy as ever, I dont care. What I care about is how it performs off road - so basicly, best offorad performance, at a reasonable price (around $230 max I'm willing to spend).

Also, what kind of modifications would I have to do to get those es3000's to work, and what specific es3000's would I have to get? (98 explorer 4 door? etc.)

Any takers? Thanks in advance.

Also, anyone know if I should replace the stock (origional) springs with something different? I can't seem to find too much info on this year, make, and model anywhere that helps...?

You gotta Search first for a little bit eh chap? :D

But since you're focused on off-roading -- to tell you the truth, shocks are the one of the last things you worry about in trail rides and crawling. Of course they are important in high speed off roading (like running dunes and the Baja) but for 95% of us on the forum that take our vehicle out on trails, shocks are just not something we really think too much of. Traction (tires, lockers, etc..) is more important on the trail. So unless the shocks you have now are rusted all the way through, I'd say save the money for now and buy more agressive tires and/or a locker in the future -- these are a lot more bang for the buck on the trail than shocks.

hmm interesting - maybe thats why I couldnt really find too much info for my specific truck heh. Well maybe I'll do just that. **Searches threads for tire info**

i was looking at the same website and they have some edlebrock shock that are supposed to be good. look at summitracing.com they have a big selection
