Oh man, I think I broke my X again

So I was driving back to school, I'm on the highway doing about 55. I hit the overdrive off button and all of a sudden the a noise like an air wrench just spinning (not impacting) comes from under the X. I makes this noise now whenever my X is moving faster then about 35 and when I just let it cruise, not giving it gas or braking. In other words If the RPMs drop bellow 1000 without braking this noise happens, and the only way to get it to stop is to hit the gas. The RPMs also drop very low as if its stalling but its not stalling at all. Any Ideas? Should I go to the ford dealer or a tranny place? Thanks Alot for any help, I really appreciate it.

This may sound totally ridiculous, but a similar thing happened to me, and it ended up being the muffler. The muffler developed a crack, and one day just opened up. Probably not the answer to your problem, but just a thought.
