Hello, First time posting so bear with me.
Bought a 95 ex sport. 100,000 miles. Noticed that oil gauge starts out in normal range, then after awhile pegs at high. When I pulled over and shut down, I noticed the gauge didn't drop all the way to the lowest position. (as all others do). Once the vehicle sits awhile it drops back to it's lowest point, works as expected, then pegs at high. Oil levels are correct. Vehicle runs fine. Is this likely a bad sending unit. As well the check engine light comes on, but turns off once that unit has been off for awhile.
Thanks for any input.

Same Here

My 94 XLT 4.0 is doing the same thing, that is how I found the thread, I am thinking that my oil filter may be clogged and am going to do an oil change and see if that helps, any solutions I will be watching the thread for.....

Oil Gauge

Ok, current info. Replaced the sending unit. Didn't replace issue, tho I grounded the wire to the unit it test gauge, goes to high, but, interesting enough, when disconnected, or with Neg batter cable disconnected (unpowering whole system) I noticed the gauge no longer goes alway down to zero. All the others do. So I'm wondering if my gauge is stuck in a middle position when off, and then going to high thinking that's the normal operating range.
Let me know if the oil filter change helps you. Mine was supposedly changed, but I''m going to install an after market gauge soon that reads true pressure. Vehicle seems to run fine for now.
Let me know how your issue goes....

The gauge is likely bad. Also get the CE light checked.

Changed my oil over the weekend, so far seem to have resolved the issue. I am thinking that after I ran Sea Foam in oil, gas and intake I truly crapped up my filter and just needed replacing. If the gauge changes back in a couple days I'll let you know.

Perhaps I have a larger issue.
Last night gauge went high again after 30 miles of driving, took just over 1 quart to top off.
I am confused, oil gauge goes to higher pressure indication = low on oil need to top off.
No discernable smoke in exhaust yet lost just over 1 quart in 30 miles.
I would think I would be smoking like I'm on fire or lost oil on undercarrige, but No - ANY IDEAS

157miles / 12gal. Fuel / 1.75qts. oil = +1/2qt per 50miles???

I am at such a loss, starting to think about parking it for a while
May look at doing a leak down test to see if the rings are shot, but still think there would be billowing smoke
