Oil Leak

I have a friend with a pretty bad oil leak on his truck, what is the best way to get rid of this? He dosent know where exactly it is coming from, but it is hitting something hot, b/c he notices a horrible smell when he gets outta his car after he had driven it. Any help would be great.

First thing I'd check is the valve cover gaskets, or just see if the cover bolts/screws are loose. Could be leaking out and running onto the exhaust manif.
