Ok, so a couple of days ago i started my 01 X sport and the oil gauge said empty. When I reved the engine it would go up and down randomly, but would eventualy settle to where it was supposed to be. I figured there was a short or something, then driving down the road the other day, my check gauge light came on and my engine tempture was way high. I pulled over and let it go down, and the rest of the drive it stayed higher than usual. Also the acceleration has been hesitant latley. Any one have any ideas?

Just curious, do you mean your oil pressor gauge? have you checked your oil level latly?

The Oil was just changed today and since the oil pressure gauge hasnt been acting funny, but the temp gauge is still up. I added some water to the radiator(along w/ some antifreeze) but its still up. What do you know about changing the thermostat?

Search button, top of page :D

I would say change the thermostat. Especially because you said acceleration is hesitant. Is it short shifting also? If it is it's the t-stat fo sure.

Indeed, it's time for the thermostat. Get the new one at the dealer for $30 with the gasket and swap it out. It takes all of about 20 minutes. You'll need a 1/4" drive ratchet, and a couple of small metric sockets and wrenches. Piece of cake, and it'll cure the overheat, shifting, high idle, and lack of throttle response.
