i just got it back 3 weeks ago from it being gone almost 2 months with the timing chain incident, new timing chain 5 new valves and 1300 dollars later its back and ive already put close to 4 k miles on in, 94k when i got it back about to hit 99 probably tonight, anyway, these past few weeks have been pretty much a ***** with gas, im getting maybe 200 miles on a tank around town 17 gallon tank, i got a whopping 292 when i went down to the beach off a tank which i thought was amazing anyway besides all the crap, ive been wanting to turn this thing into 4 wheel drive every since ive had it, its a 98 2 door sport sohc v6 4.0 2wd, a buddy of mine recently totaled his explorer same year as mine, same body (sport) and engine as mine, but his was more of the i guess you could said "premium" package with lighting running boads and side mirrors and nicer rims, 2 tone paint etc.... any way ive been thinking that since these are both the same cars then couldnt i just simply take the parts from his and put it on mine, easier said than done i know but it seems like it wouldnt be that hard to do, since im big into car audio i have noticed when i take the black dash peice/ radio bezeal theres an extra clip with wires running to it on the left side that isnt used, its in the same place the 4x4 switch is my friends explorer, except in mine it just rest in the back of the dash peice, to me that means the computer is 4x4 ready...so please hit me with your opinions and let me know, i really want to do this

anything? bump

seems to me that it should be do able provided all the harness hook-ups are there.
seems alot of work to turn yours into a 4x4. wouldn't it be easier to take the good parts off of yours and put them on his?
