When I had my stock speakers in, the rear drivers side speaker never put out any bass and also had a whine that increased in pitch as the rpm's increased. I figured it was a blown speaker or something like that. Well when I replaced all my door speakers with pioneer 3-ways, it still acts the same way. Is the wiring bad to that speaker? If it makes any difference I have my amp power wire for my sub going down that sideand the amp is attached to the back of the rear drivers side seat. Could that cause this? I am at my wits end with this and the fact that it doesn't work right is starting to bug me. Thanks in advanced for any help you can offer.

anyone have any thoughts?

I'm thinking it could be a ground problem, check the wires to make sure the plastic casing isn't damaged. The way it increases with RPM does suggest a ground problem.

Alternator whine. You are getting interference from a power wire, I assume.

I would normally agree with the power wire thing, but my front speaker works fine, no whine at all. The power cable is down that side under the carpet. My guess is a bad ground on the clip to that speaker.

Does the speaker wire to the front run just as close to the + wire for the amp?

the + wire runs under the door sills and carpet on the driver side. It is of equal distance from both speakers, though i have no idea where the wires that go to the speakers are. So i don't know if it could be close to the wires going to the speaker itself.

I had the same problem, all I did was re do the wiring from the cd player to the speakers, I will take some pictures tommorow if u need, but try re twisting or make sure it has a good connection, also it mihgt be reversed polarity, just flip the + and -

Success! I pulled my headunit out and found about 1,000 feet of wire and some funky box thing (pic below). (Be it known that this was installed at Best Buy, why I don't want to talk about since I am very good with electronics being an electrical engineer major and all) I took the stupid box thing off and my one speaker buzz is 100% gone. Problem is, the volume is insanely high. Was this some kind of amp bypass? I was under the impression the bypass for the stock amp was used on the stock amp itself which is under the back passanger side panel, correct? I figure I will need to bypass the amp somehow. Can I just cut and solder wires on the amp itself to get around it? Please correct me if I am wrong. I would deffinitly like to know what this unit is below:

That's a line out converter with a gain control. I assume you could find info for it at www.installedge.com :) When I bypassed my amp I pulled the panel and cut and connectored the wires. Wasn't very difficult, and didn't take all that long.

I will be cutting the wires and reconecting them tomorrow.I am very excited, I haven't had that speaker working in over a year and a half. :bounce:
