I'm not seeking help this time around, just venting.
My mom recently acquired a 2003 Sport Trac from a REPO lot so yeah, I knew it would have issues to deal with but, they keep adding up.
First it was the drivers window not working. Pulled the panel and broke out the multi meter. Getting the proper amount of voltage to the motor so.......bad motor. Anyone who's ever had to replace one of these knows what a PITA it is. Why can't Ford use bolts and nut plates instead of rivets?
So anyway......ordered a new regulator/motor assembly and while I was waiting for it to arrive, the shifter cable started acting up. Discovered the housing where it clips into the lower bracket near the NSS was damaged and not locking in. Replaced the cable assembly.......still wouldn't lock in. Couldn't find a new bracket so, safety wired the thing in place.
On the same day the new window regulator arrived, mom calls me and tells me her A/C blower is making weird noises. That was 2 days ago. Yesterday, she calls and tells me her check engine light came on. Hooked up the scanner and it was some sort of evap leak, can't remember the code at the moment. I was in a hurry at that time so, I tightened the gas cap and cleared the code. I'll just have to wait and see if it comes back on.
So now..........it's Saturday and instead of working on my own stuff, I'm back at mom's fixing her truck yet again.
I will give Ford credit for placing the AC/heater blower under the hood rather than under the dash.........far easier to access there. All other makes should follow Ford's example on that particular component.

LOL, that list of issues is nothing. The POS 2001 Sport Trac I purchased 5 years ago, sight-unseen as a non-runner, has a list of repairs I've made to it which is now 3 typed pages long. Page 3 (completed just a few weeks go) was R&R 'ing the engine due to two cracked heads and broken timing chain parts. Probably the worst vehicle I've ever owned (other than perhaps a Jeep Wrangler). Even so, I love the utility of the ST. I guess that's why keep fixing it. To be fair, this vehicle's journey has been a restoration more than multiple repairs.
