hey all, i rolled my explorer this past weekend on some wet roads..actually pretty lucky through it all..just tipped it on its side and over a stop sign. Well, now i'm having the drive-line issues. It rolled onto the drivers side, and now when i turn right theres a slight vibration felt through the wheel. Since the accident i've only put about 10 miles on her until i can get it into a shop to get an idea of whats going on. Anyone have a clue what might have been damaged when it went on its side?

Damn those SUV's always tipping over, we should just outlaw those things.?.?
Probably need some new paint.LOL

if you tipped it on teh drivers side there are so many things up fron that could have been affected. You very easily could have killed a ball jount or two, slaughtered a tie-rod end, or even bent a controll arm.

PS glad no one was hurt

hrmm

actually it laid down pretty softly up front (can a V8 explorer do anything softly?? hehe), the brunt of the damage came at the rear, starting with the rear tire flatting. About the worst "visible" damage up front is the mirror being non existant. Btw it landed in a soft patch of grass, which is why it really didnt get beat up bad.

Just curious, how'd you roll it?

soft or hard it is a 5K lbs truck and the frontend components are not designed to feel ANY force from the side. just being 50% of the way over standing half for weight of the truck on the front tire its gonna feel it and things are gonna break.

how she rolled

well...just doin a u-turn on a freshly rained and oiled up road. Started to fishtail a bit..no biggie..i corrected but too much and it went all the way around the other way and tagged a curb..the curb broke the seal on the tire, it flatted, and over she went.

I agree! You can send them to me @ IAmTodd@explorerforum.com and I'll host them on my site. I said my site, so don't yell at me for using my elitness on others, I paid my money, I should be able to do what I want with the product in return, anyways, if you have any send 'em over!

How do you get them to hold signs ????????????????

Any way, yeah, NO vehicle likes laying on its side.
It could be as simple as a wheel weight got tossed, though not likely.
I am gonna guess a tie rod or controll arm or both.

When you take it to the shop of your choice look for
I-CAR certificates. That is training for collision repair.

I was wondering how do you upright it after it was flipped, you cant just lift it up.

You use a little Honda Civic as a pry bar.

Whenever I flipped I just put my arm out the window and pushed real hard, that worked.....and the wrecker on the other side helped too.

But mostly your arm....right?

All i gotta say is "poor stop sign"...lol..just joking. U might have a nice red stripe on ur drivers side from the stop sign biting ya...lol...laterz

how bad is the vibration??? It its just from turning, and you can only feel it in the steering wheel, id check the power steering fluid first, eliminate the easiest. After i took my truck offroad, didnt roll it, but went over tons of bumps, you could really feel vibration from the steering wheel, cause the fluid was all pocketed with air (oxidised, or whatever), it also made a funny noise... so check the power steering fluid first, even if the vibration is that bad, its good to do anyways:D, change it if necessary (Something i should do too).

And if that doesnt help at all, good luck man!!
