Overdrive on 4 speed transmission?

Are you familiar with manual transmissions?
It's a 5th foward gear that will save you gas at highway speeds. When you're crusin', drop it into overdrive, your RPMs will drop and gas mileage will go up!

I recently purchased a '94 Navajo, w/ 4 speed. On the stick next to 3rd gear and above reverse there is what seems to be an overdrive, what exactly is this for and when should it be used? Thanks alot for any help!
