I have a 1995 explorer XL v6 2wd, i believe the 4r55e. I bought it from my girlfriends uncle about a year ago. He advised me that there was no OD, and needed the solenoid replaced. I was just using it for work and hauling trash. But, i finally got around to ordering the solenoid, and installing it(took longer to figure out which one controlled OD). Put everything together, topped off with fluid and took it for a spin. O/D light still blinking, still no OD. If I get up to 45-50 where it would normally shift into od, get off the throttle and push the OD button, it tries(you can feel the trans jerk like it wants to shift). I'm going to tighten the band tomorrow if I can figure out which one to tighten and where the bolt is. I am fairly mechanically inclined and have been working on cars forever. Just not much experience with transmissions. No rush, but would like to get er done tomorrow sometime. Thanks.
