Okay I think reading other posts that I already know the answer to my question but I want to double check. On Friday while on a road trip my X started running hotter than normal (it was 100 outside temp) the a/c would then cycle on and off to help alleviate the problem and it never got into the red. Sat just drove around town and it was fine. Today drove over 300 miles with the a/c running the whole time and it was fine again, temperature stayed in the normal range?!? Just hit the 80,000 mark so we planned on replacing the coolant anyway and oil change (last time used 5W30 as recommended in manual, hubby is not happy with breakdown in high temp so is going back to heavier weight) Also our mileage at its best has been 16 on hwy, is this about right...we were told to expect 18-20 on hwy. Any help would be great...can't afford to get hosed by a dealer!

Replace your thermostat & flush the engine. My mileage went from 16 mpg to 18 by doing this. The t-stat was stuck open and my engine couldn't reach optimal running temp.
