Hi guys I've got a 95 Explorer 4x4 94k, just got it about 2 weeks, ago, and I'm thinking that the oxygen sensors might be going out. I gone through three tanks of gas so far the first tank netted 16mpg, with almost all highway driving on a trip of about 200 miles. The second tank was about 25-30% highway and 70-75% higway got 14.9 mpg, third tank about 95% city got 14mpg. Between the first and second tanks I replaced the thermostat, and cleaned the MAF. The check engine light came on during the first tank and pulled codes 176 oxygen sensor not switching, and 330 something no EGR Function. Just got the codes scanned again yesterday, got a system pass, but I probabley cleared all of the codes when I unhooked the battery, when cleaning the MAF. I've heard faulty o2 sensor can cause drops in mileage, should I invest the $80 in o2 sensors, or do you think the poor mileage is something more simple like plugs/wires? Hope you all can give me some suggestions. Thanks.

you need to graph out your o2 sensors (you should get the following):
