2021 Explorer Limited
I picked up a 2021 Limited Explorer a few weeks ago, CEL came on yesterday after going on a 200 mile round trip. Showing a P0113 code, Intake Air Temp Circuit High Input on my Scanner. I picked up a new sensor at Napa tonight threw it in, cleared the code and code comes right back. In my scanner Intake Air Temp shows -40° F. Is there a way to check if the sensor is good? Possible the new one is bad too? Where do the wires at the sensor go, looking to trace wires back to ECU or wherever they go to check for broke wire or something?

Any ideas on what to check next?
Thanks!

-40 is the default temp when no sensor is detected so it would be either a bad wire or maybe the wire harness isn't secured correctly. The new explorers are plagued with bad wire harnesses. When one of our officers ripped off the front bumper of our vehicle patrol the outside air tempature always registered at -40 as the sensor was no longer attached which meant the AC no longer worked even in 90 degree heat. But if you're sure the sensor is plugged in correctly I'd start looking for damaged wires or just replace the harness it's attached to.

Welcome to the Forum.
As mentioned, -40 seems to be the default reading for issues with the Ambient Air Sensor. On the 5th gen the sensor is located behind the front bumper toward the driver's side.
