I have unfortunately Been told that I have a P0340 code on my computer in my explorer. I have replaced the Camshaft Position sensor and the Crankshaft position sensor, this has not worked to rid me of the CES light. I was told that it was "Possibly" a timing issue is there anyway to know if it is in fact a timing issue? does anyone have any other ideas? your help would be greatly appreciated I would rather repair and keep driving my EX than sell or trade it.

Are you able to start the engine and keep it running?

That code doesn't necessarily mean the sensor is the issue. Could also be an issue with the wiring a bad ground or even the ECM.

I can start the explorer and keep it running, It runs fine doesn't feel like it has any loss of power the one thing i did notice is that every once in a while if i start it and try to shift into reverse it will shut off. and it shakes a bit

What work has been to the explorer? if replacing the sensor doesn't fix the CEL then it could be an issue with the timing chain. It might be off by a tooth or half of it due to slack. Sometimes it's caused by a broken tensioner.
