Guys, a friend of mine has a 95 Pathfinder 4x4. It crapped out on him. So he wound up taking it to Nissan to have it repaired.
He Knew the tranny would need a rebuild and expected to pay no more then 1500. He got a call a few days later explaining that being the SUV was a 4x4 it needed to be replaced with a "NEW" tranny and could not be rebuilt!
Now when I heard this I was somewhat shocked. Of course the work had allready been done and at this point nothing could really be done. He ended up paying $3200 for a new tranny from the dealer.
My question is, is this for real? Ive never heard of this before. If so, why must a bad tranny be replaced with a new one and not rebuit because of the fact the SUV is a 4x4.
My old Ex was a 4x4 and I had two rebuilds.
Nissan took him for a ride huh????
