people with manual tranny -- mods to interior - shorter shifter

Whats up. Ok... i am buying tomorrow a 97' sport with a 5 speed. Now, this sounds gay, but i don't like that look of the really big long shifter. I was wondering what i would have to possibly do to convert the center console to the 4 door xlt version that runs do the dash.. and in the big part in the middle i could put the shifter so it woul dbe shorter.. how cool would that be.. now i know that it moves a lot from the ground but does anyone have any ideas on this?

Sounds cool. Also check into a short throw shift kit....A thread just got started about a hurst that shortened the 10" throw to 4".
