Performance chip. How much difference?

I pull a ski boat with my 92 XLT 4.0 Automatic. Since I live in Colorado I lose a bit of power due to the altitude. I have seen performance chips that advertise 10 to 15 more horsepower for about $300. Is it a noticable difference, especially for towing?

a chip by itself will not produce the increase you would be looking for.

Here is some suggestions for an upgrade path:

1. K&N conical filter upgrade or KKM kit
2. Cat-back system - like Flowmaster is what I run
3. larger MAF and TB if you want to spend a few more dollars
4. computer chip
