2016 Explorer Sport
Hi,

I've been searching hard to find other Explorer owners who have installed the 13.6" (or 12") Android 9 head unit. I have a 2016 Explorer sport with the Sync 2 system. I self-installed mine, but am having lots of trouble with a couple of major issues:
1. At seemingly random times, but especially after taking a call through bluetooth or switching from the Sync radio to the HU radio, either the original Sync 2 radio and/or the HU bluetooth radio will not work. I won't be able to turn on the Sync 2 radio and won't hear any sound from the HU. The bluetooth will also not work on the Sync 2 system because I can't even turn the radio part of it on. Sometimes this happens during a single car ride, at others when I first turn on the car. By the way, sometimes both systems works perfectly fine.
2. The A/C functions through the Sync 2 system work fine, but neither the HU physical A/C buttons nor the HU virtual buttons work.

Does anyone have any experience with these issues?

Also, I have run across other forum entries which reference a Russian gentleman's software which can be used to eliminate the bottom "permanent" A/C functions as well as change other settings the basic HU can't. I can't seem to relocate that gentleman's software info/links. Would appreciate anyone posting that info?

I appreciate the help.

Thanks

Is this what you have? Ford
I seem to recall that others also had some issues getting everything to work.

Hi Peter. Yes the 13.6" Android 9 fast boot one is the one I have installed. Any help you can offer in directing me to some of the threads for folks who had problems is greatly appreciated

I just installed one as well and have the same exact problem! I filled out a form to return it. You can find videos on YouTube of the unit we are supposed to have and the operation of it. Ours are nothing like it.

Becketra... I figured it out. Whenever it does it select the Bluetooth option then press the red hang up button on the unit itself instead of the phone. Anytime it does it just goes there and hit the red phone x button a few times

Thanks for the advice Eric. I will try this.
