2002 Mercury Mountaineer
Hello,

i own a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer AWD V8. I had my codes ran and it is a faulty dpfe sensor and i bought one from autozone. However, i took the plastic cover off my block, and is the dpfe sensor sitting in the middle of the car attached to the firewall in plain view?

i went to three different stores and no one could tell me where it is. I have researched for hours trying to find a picture of it. as the black and white one does not show where it is exactly.

i am due to drive 900 miles in 2 days and i would like to replace it before hand.

thank you in advance and god bless whoever helps me:us:

You should find a metal pipe coming off the exhaust manifold, it will have 2 silicone lines, almost look like vacuum lines, coming off it. They attach to DPFE sensor. Get your new one out and compare, you'll find it. :)

I just replace my DPTE in June. The DPFE sits right behind the plastic engine cover next to the firewall. You can see the sensor without removing the plastic engine cover. After removing the plastic engine cover, the sensor sits on top of two rubber hose sticking straight up. The electric connection comes into it from passenger side. I hope this helps.
