Hi everyone,

Just want to thank everyone on this wonderful site in advance. Not only is it great to find people like us that love Explorers but it's saved us thousands by fixing our own issues.

Our most recent issue is that for some reason we cannot find even through our local Ford Dealership a replacement Fuel Pressure Regulator.

We have a 1999 Ford Explorer XL, 4L V6 OHV Manual. The Ford Part OEM number is F87Z9F775CA (we don't want an aftermarket multi fit part)

We have tried Rock Auto, Auto Online, Auto Zone, Auto Parts Warehouse etc etc etc and have had no luck.

If it helps the VIN No for our Truck is: 1FMDU34X3XZB33268

If anyone at all can help us it would be a huge help as we are using about a third as much gas as normal and she's bucking occassionally when we drive so it's starting to get bad.

Btw we are based in Sydney Australia would be more than willing to pay shipping from the U.S. if someone has one of these.

Thanks so much.

A couple of issues...

First the model year 1999 started with a returnless fuel system on the Explorer which has no return fuel line from the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail...This also means there is no fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail... The fuel pressure regulator is in the tank on these models...

Second the part # you asked about is a fuel damper which is there to smooth out the pulsing the injectors sees during running... Unless it is leaking I doubt seriously that part is causing you fuel consumption issues...

But if you really need to replace this part it is available through FordPartsGiant.com for $70.23...

Now that being said...The bucking and higher fuel consumption sound like any number of issues... Do you have a CEL on? What is the fuel pressure reading? When was the fuel filter replaced last? What is the condition of the ECT sensor?

If the CEL is on it could lead you into the correct area to find a problem...Low fuel pressure is a problem;65-72 psi is Fords' spec for the returnless systems here in the States...If the fuel filter has not been replaced inthe last 30k miles it is possible that the unit is restricted and causing you to use more throttle than normal...And the ECT sensor feeds back coolant temp info back to the PCM to modulate the fuel and operating requirements of the engine and a defective ECT can cause the engine to run richer than needed...
