Hi....I'm new to this forum....looking for some possibilities regarding my idle problem.
I have read at least 13 pages back into this section and have seen other idle issues, but none seem to be the same as my problem (unless I missed it). I have also found some great advice regarding other problems, especially on that little 'bump' when stopping. Thanks for that everyone.
Anyway, I have a '99 Sport Model, 4.0L, and when I start everything is great. It's when I've been driving for a period of time and the engine gets warm that the idling becomes an issue.
It starts off idling at around 1000rpm, but then slowly drops down to approximately 500rpm and lower. It has only stalled on me once, but that is one too many times as far as I am concerned.
Any thoughts on this problem?
I am still on an extended warranty, and it is almost bumper to bumper (but somehow I fear it probably doesn't cover this, as is usual when one has a problem with their vehicle). I am not a mechanical person, but I would like to at least know what it probably isn't so I don't get robbed at the dealership. I do have access to a diagnostic tester, since I work for a division of Dana Corporation. So I can also have that checked if need be (so long as the guys in the back are agreeable).
Anyway, thanks in advance, and I shall await your answers.
