92 ranger 3.0 v6 auto RWD. I turn left it sounds like the driver front tire/wheel is rubbing or grinding horrifically not when I turn right but when I turn left. Also, it vibrates really bad. Now driving on a straight strip of road, It feels like the same tire is out of balance the only issue with that thought is that it starts at 45 and gets worse the faster I drive. If it is the wheel bearings then I need to know another way to test it other then jacking it up and shaking the tire because that dictates everything is ok. Any ideas?

Do you have uneven wear on the tires? Shaking starting at about 40mph indicates a tire out of balance.
Can you lift the truck? Use a crowbar and check all joints for play. To test wheel bearings, slip the crowbar between knuckle and rotor.
A test we did at Volkswagen: lift it up, block one wheel (we just lowered the car onto a solid chair), put it in gear, then speed up to 20-30mph. Get back into neutral and let the wheel spin freely to a stop. Any noise or slowing down too fast indicates dead bearings.

I looked for uneven wear and haven't seen it. I was told to jack it up and grab the top of the tire and see if there is any play in it, I did that and there was nothing, All the joints are? And where?
