I have an 05 EB 4.6. I replaced the steering rack and hoses, but cant find where the bracket gets connected to. Theres one thats bolted on the passenger side in the middle of the "U" shaped part, and there was another bracket closer to where it goes into the rack, which is the one Im referring to. If anyone can snap a pic or explain where it mounts that would be awesome since Im apparently blind. The hose will be bouncing off the big nut that holds the rack in if I cant figure it out. Thanks

I think that the bracket you are referring to attaches onto another bracket that holds a wiring harness that runs under the oil filter. There is a metal bracket that is attached to lower front just above the center of the cross member. That bracket goes back and crimps the wire harness. There is a stud that goes through that bracket and this is where the PS hose bracket mounts. There is a metal plate fixed to the pressure hose and this fits over the stud with a nut holding it in place. The stud may hold both brackets in place, I don't remember.

Awesome, thank you! GIves me something to look for. Im thinking this was already disconnected because I dont remember one of those except the one thats mounted and goes up into the pump. I ziptied it today until I could figure it out, or decided to say eff it, which is really what I did lol

The hoses are secured in three places over the cross member. One is where the hoses connect to the rack, one is in the middle as I described, and the third is at the far end of the cross member. The hoses are heavy when filled with fluid, so if they are not properly secured I think you risk damaging the pressure fittings. A zip tie or band clamp will generally do in a pinch.

When I take something apart, I place every bolt, nut, stud, washer, etc, in a plastic bag or container and write the location on it. If I buy replacement hardware, it goes in the same bag. It works well, as long as I don't lose the bags.

I usually put as many bolts as I can back to where they came out of, thats why I was lost, I only remembered taking the one out on the far passenger side where it turns and comes back to the drivers side. I know the PO has a lot of missing bolts, hoses that arent secured with the clips etc to so Im trying to figure out all that crap to
