Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

I discovered a new problem, my rear passenger window does not move up or down smoothly, it shudder's and shakes. It does it from either switch, master or passenger. What do I need to do to fix this before it gets worse or does more damage?

Thanks,
Sonny

my drivers side window in my sport does this as well..it goes down about 6 inches fine, then kinda sputters down for about 2 inches then smoothly goes the rest of the way

Try cleaning the tracks really well. You might have to remove the door panel, and clean the lower tracks too.

I agree with Crankcase.

My '93 does it on both rear door windows.
The tracks that the glass runs in can build up dirt, old soap from washes, road grime whatever else can work itself into these places. The tracks lose their "fuzzy" soft feeling (no I'm not talking attitude!) and the glass begins to hangup.

Be careful if you remove the door panels. Dont want to break any tabs. I'm sure there are links on tips for this, Do a search if you are unsure. Use a toothbrush or something similar (soft) and brush down inside the tracks. If needed you can dip the toothbrush into some warm soapy water. Just let it dry completely before reassembly.

Good Luck!!

Man this has got to be an explorer thing! My '92 did that and so does my '94 now. (Both back windows.) I Have greased, oiled, lubed and took apart what I could to fix them on both vehicles and it all amounted to a big waste of time. The funny thing is I just took a '99 out for a test drive a few days ago and guess what, the back windows didn't go down smoothly!

Thanks evryone for the help, I will pull the panels and check. If I find any thing helpful I will post.

my back window started doing this after it got mud all over it :)
