I just spent 8 hours working on installing my powerdyne charger. This whole kit is garbage. I think I am missing half the kit and the the other half I do have doesn't fit. Anyone willing to help me please? Here is what I need

The Harmonic balancer-it says to use the stock bolt. The powerdyne one came pre-assembled, and the stock bolt wont fit. Do I have to pull this apart to get the bolt in?

The alternator connections are way too short, is it supposed to be like this? What do I have to do to get them to fit.

The serpintine belt is about 2" to long, does anyone have the right belt number.

The small heater hose that is right by the belt tensioner braket is all twisted and confused and not in the stock position. If I put the bracket on first them I cant get the small hose on. If I put the hose on first it is a real pita to get the bracket on.

If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it. I will be going at it first thing in the morning.

Thanks

Mike

Is not like alot of folks on this site have done what you are doing, I feel bad for your problems as I would like to to the same install, maybe the maker would be best to contact, pls keep us posted

HEHEHE. Hey Mike I forgot to put the mention about the heater hose in my PM to you. Yeah that was a PITE to. But I got it to fit after a while but it took some elbow grease. The alternator wires do have to be extended. Get the corect guage wires and splice that. and the alt racket does need some shorter bolts or some washers to serve as spacers. And I didnt have a single problem with the harmonis balancer. I just pulled the old one and put the new one on there and tapped it down a little with a mallet and large socket and then tightened the bolt with a ratchet from then till snug. Dont worry man it wil go ok. And if you have te BD-11 kit thne count yourself lucky cause you dont have to mess withthe whole animal of punching and tapping the oil pan and TEEing of where the Oil Prssure Sensing Unit goes into the block. I got frustrated for a while because I was worried I wasnt doing things right but then settled down after a little while and had fun and learned alot to. Whatever you do, dont just give up or take it to a shop for them to do it, cause those morons will most likely be even worse educated about your trucks engine than you. Plus it is funner this way and feel more sense of accomplishment when you DIY. Good luck man. I am in the process of buying a 5.0 stang for my new charger project involving the XB-1A head unit that survived my old 5.0 explorer crash over a year ago now.

Well after another 8 hours of work I am just about done. I called up Ford racing and they admitted that I didn't get alot of the nuts/bolts and other little things to make it go easier. Only thing left is to install the spark plugs (I would have been done today if the shop gave me the right ones). Total time so far is about 4 hours driving around getting stuff 2 hours cussing at the directions and about 8 hours on the install.

You done yet?! :D

Ya let's see a pic of under the hood, or a smoke show or something! :P

Well i got everything done today. The belt is squeaking a little bit when I first start it and such but I think it just needs to break in. I haven't got on it yet, I just want to make sure everything else is running right first before I go romp on it. I will get some pics in the morning.

If any one is going to do this please let me know. I have all the right belt numbers and can help alot more than the horrible directions do.

Since all you alls are putting these things on now, I think I'm gonna have to do it. Late summer probably. :( So if you do a write-up or something cool like that.. you'd be the boooomb. :D

Hey rydinhigh that belt is not squeaking because it needs breaking in. It needs tightening. If for some mysterious reason you cannot tension it anymore then you either arent giving it enough elbow grease or the tensioner is getting held up from tightening by that little bolt that is in the way back behind it. Either way it is an easy fix. And if you look like you are going to run out of room because if you tighten it more it looks as if it will hit (if I remember correctly) your other idler pulley then just get a belt that is half an inch smaller and put it on there. Like I said before. You dont got the correct sized belt unless it is an all out pain in the azz to get it on with the tensioner completely up. Oh and I know I said it before to ya in either one of my PMs or one of my posts, when I said TAP the tensioner down with a mallet or hammer and a long piece of pipe or very sturdy block of wood. What I meant to say is BEAT THAT THING DOWN!!! That is the only way you will get the squealing out of it. I dealt with the squealing for a week before I finally took the time to look at it and do it right. Easy fix and well worth it to not be annoyed and plain embarrassed when you start your truck up and hear that serp. belt squealing.

Also since when you called to Ford racing and they actually admitted to you that they didnt send you alot of parts and such and basically fugged up. I would call them up again and ***** till you get some free stuff. I know I should have done that with Powerdyne. But instead I chose to get paid for an article I wrote about the installation and post it at superchargeronline.com. But they chose not to publish it because I had some things to point out about the substandard instructions that a chimpanzee could have done a better job on. But on the brighter side I got paid $100 for installing my supercharger!!! lol. Cannot beat that!

Hey Section since I remember you dong your rockers and asking me a few questions about it and stuff I know your the type to tackle somewhat less than inviting tasks. It is not that hard to do the install. You just got to look at things and get a full understanding of how all those things work together. The only thing noteworthy are the ones already mentioned here and other places. I dont know who has installed the BD-11 kit on their trucks. But I do know that I am probably the only person on earth that has ever installed the XB-1A supercharger on their truck. lol. But the BD-11 and the XB are soo similar that it is the same install with some more things going on in the XB install. If you need help while installing myself and others are always an email away. And besides, by that time I will be RE installing that same charger that was in my old explorer into a project 5.0 mustang, so I will be brushed up on anything I may have forgotten about. And now rydin has done it and I know there were others on here that installed it on their own without a garages help. It is a blast to do. And once your done and hear that whine you will drool.

Section when you get your kit let me know. I will give you my phone number and I can tell you exactly what each piece is for (since the instructions dont mention most of them) and what you need to go buy or modify.

Rocket thanks for all of your help. The belt that I bought was a royal pita to get on with the tensioner all the way up. I did not beat the tensioner down I guess I will do that in a little bit and get some pics for you guys.

yes pics are really needed!!!! You get on her yet? is there a good whine from the hood or is it quiet?

I havent got on it yet. Under idle you can't even hear it. Around 3k you can hear it a little. I am still trying to take it easy on it to allow it to break in a little bit. Hopefully by tomorrow I will be able to put some miles on it and be able to get on it.

how about low end power? did it help anything below 2k?

If it did its not that noticeable. I like that there isn't much of a power boost since my wife drives the truck and I have a 10 month old. Normal cruising is just about the same as it was before the blower.

I have about 30 miles on it so far so on the ride home tonight from work I will do some wot runs and will report back.

Get off the interwebnet and go WFO that thing!

smoke em if ya got em. Oh wait F'n AWD messes that up.

Well I finally got on it a few minutes ago. Lets just say omfg 6lbs of boost feels really really nice.
