Group, good evening from the finally warm and drying NorCal.

I have been reading through numerous posts regarding replacement of the EGR Tube on the 5.0L. Mine is getting steadily worse sounding.

Is there a preferred supplier or vendor for this tube? Many threads referenced Dorman, but some links are a decade old.

I replaced the EGR tube with a Dorman a while back. (The Ford unit was discontinued.) It seemed to be the same quality as what came off, and the price was reasonable. The fit was perfect. Best I remember it came from Amazon.

The exhaust manifold fitting is a sunny beach to loosen. I suggest you remove the inner fender liner and run the engine to heat up the fitting before trying to loosen. A penetrant such as PB Blaster helps. My 4.0 took a 1 1/8 inch socket, and the 5.0 might be the same. It took a breaker bar with a 4 foot pipe added to break my fitting loose...good luck!

I reach the manifold end with 1-1/16" just fine after removing the air intake elbow. The manifold nut works loose after 500 miles and the tube mating surface is pinched. So, guess I'm getting Dorman.

Thanks.

Glad it helped. If your manifold nut is loose already, it'll be a relatively easy job to replace
the EGR tube. My Dorman replacement has been on for at least 2-3 years and still looks
new. It's a durable replacement. Good luck.
