Hey everyone,

I was planning on jacking up my X for the first time today to figure out how to get the running boards off without needing to squish myself underneath it. I had everything ready - got some jack stands, chocks, etc. But then when I went to pull out the jack something seemed to be seriously holding it back. It looked like there was some kind of clip on the floor that held it in place, but I couldn't figure out how to detach it. I pulled/pushed every way I could think of but it wouldn't budge.

Did anyone have this problem the first time they tried to get the jack out and if so, what did you do about it? Because of the little space there is, I can't tell if I'm just missing something or something is stopping it that shouldn't be.

Thanks for your help, as always.

Rob

P.S. I squished myself underneath anyway and got no closer to getting those unsightly boards off.

I'll check my owners manual on removing the vehicle jack and get back to you later this morning. Going to the gym in an hour and my manual is in the Ex. Haven't tried removing it myself as of yet because I have a 3 ton HD floor jack that I use when getting underneath it. Those vehicle jacks aren't really made for crawling under the vehicle, more for flat tire removal only and I know you said you have jack stands and chocks, but becareful when reaching under the truck and setting those jack stands in place. If you can get your hand on a vehicle ramp or two, you could drive one or both wheels (same side) up on them to give you some clearance to remove the running board bolts and you won't have any jack stands in the way under there. Would still have to chock the front and back side of the other wheels using the ramp method.

Turn the knob to the left. Completely lower the jack and voila! You've got it!

Ditto, it's held by pressure, just "lower" it and you should be able to remove it

Sorry I'm a little late getting back to you, but I got side tracked this morning removing tons of Xmas lights from the landscaping and bushes infront of my house. I see others have told you how to remove the jack, good luck with it!
