A friend has a 99 facelift Ex, its been running good up until last week when for no reason the tick over revs are up to about 1400rpm, when engaged in D it goes to about 1100.
He said the odd times he's been driving along at around 30mph and when he puts the peddle down there a bit of a stutter till the revs and speed go up. Said he drives the motorways everyday and not a single splutter or anything, comes off and goes down to lower revs(between 1200 and 2000 and when he needs to speed up it splutters a bit before speeding up and is then fine.

Ive changed the fuel filter with him, checked his vacuum lines and driven the car myself and not been able to recreate the problem with the exception of the tick over revs.

He doesn't have internet so i said id see what the "gurus" says:)

cheers

idle valve may need a clean out and/or maf clean up, then reset the ecu

Thanks, will start with those tomorrow, will WD40 be ok on the MAF wires ?

No

use electrical contact cleaner and just spray. Don't be tempted to use a cotton bud

I would also be checking the function of the ecu temp sender on the t stat housing
