I’m trying to trouble shoot a noise in my front wheel(s) at slow speed (i.e. I only hear it at slow speed, it might also be there at faster speeds, but other noises maybe obscuring the noise). When I jack up first the right then the left wheels and try to spin the front wheel with the transmission in neutral, I can turn the wheel, but there is enough resistance to prevent being able to “spin it”. This is on a 2000 Sport 4X4 with an automatic trans. Do the front hubs stay engaged/locked with the trans in neutral, e.g. if yes, then the residence I’m experiencing is probably the transfer case also turning as I turn the front wheels.
