I was under my truck the other day and being new to X's i discovered that mine at least, has true dual exhaust until the muffler, which then has a single exit....

IS this the same for all X's or only the SOCH????? And the piping seems to be 2.25" up to the muffler, is there much gain from just adding on a 2in/2out muffler (as i would think this is where the majority of the restriction might be, as least aft of the cats?

just a thought.

Actually its SOHC (single overhead cam) and the dual inlet/single outlet muffler is standard. The V8's have the same setup. I'm not sure about the older OHV 4.0's, but I think they were single inlet/single outlet. Go ahead with the dual inlet/outlet muffler and try to keep the pipes around 2 1/4". With the V6, if you go with 2 1/2" pipes you may lose a little torque. I have the V8 and went with Flowmaster 40 series and 2 1/2" pipes. I have some exhaust pics in a link in my sig.
