Question About "Sport" Emblems.

I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to remove the "SPORT" emblems from the 2001+ explorer sports. I was also wondering if they are just glued on or if the are attached by some other means. Is this something that can be done by just heating the emblem and using fishing line to remove it or do I have to get the emblem "shaved" off and/or get body work done?

Any suggestions or comments appreciated!

Mine were just glued on. I heated them with a hairdryer for a little then pulled them off. Then I used a little watered down nail polish remover and spent the next hour getting the rest of the glue off. It all came off and looks good.

its hard to get it off, but its just taped there, use the hairdryer and fishing line but take your time.... its a pain in the ass to get off... i have taken all of my emblems off this way.

So hair dryer with fishing line will work because the emblems are just glued on? Thanks for all the help and suggestions, I think I'm going to take it of right now.

Careful use of a heat gun will do the trick. Be warned, you CAN bubble the paint. The residue is easily removed with a solvent such as acetone.

Well it is done, I've removed the SPORT emblem. Overall I say it looks better, I personally think that the 2001+ SPORT emblem looks kinda cheap when compared to the "chrome" lettering of the EXPLORER on the rest of the truck. By removing the SPORT emblem the truck looks somewhat "cleaner", and hey if I end up not liking the SPORT not being there I can always go to the dealership and buy a new emblem.

Actually I was thinking about it, I really like your STREET emblem, its pretty tight. I also like the SVT idea too, not as original but still cool. Hey I was also wondering if you knew of places that still sell the Saleen wing.

Hey DraG-OnZ where did you get your billet grill at and Nu Image gages. I alsowould lke to know about getting the Clear corners and if you are Black Magic know if there illegal. Thanks oh and if you know anything else on the 2001 Ex Sport body style and stuff i can get for mine.

I have no idea if the clear lenses are illegal or not. I know I have several things that are illegal and am not to worried about it. There really isn't any other body style stuff out there. I am always looking

Sorry about bringing back the dead. I was wondering if anyone had found the new 2003 sport embelems. I think they say sport XLT, and they're chrome instead of red

I was at the dealer, and the 2003's have the chrome embelem on the back, they don't have "explorer" on the side, there are different pull handles, and there is two tone leather.
