I'm talking to somebody about buying their empty JL Stealtbox from them. He's only selling the box itself. In that package, what else should come with it (Brackets, etc.)? He's already said that it won't come with the cloth grill either. Is it possible to use the small cargo space trim/frame and somehow stretch my own grill cloth across it without their metal grill part? He says I can get the factory sub covers at the Ford Dealer for like $12. I have a 91, so I'm wondering if this is true. I've seen them on 95s and up, but I don't really like it; the sub grill is so small and I feel like it won't let all the bass through correctly. Any thoughts? Anyone know the depth size as well?

Thanks,

Jon

I don't have the stealth, but had the advantage (probably the same mounting and all). I didn't get any brackets with it, and when you put it back there, it doesn't move at all! I didn't get the grille either, but heres what you can do. Get MTX's number, and order one of their grilles, it is basically a frame that pops into the opening in the panel. Most of it is opened up, and you can (I did) cover it with your own grille cloth. It comes from MTX with black cloth on it, but I bought some tan cloth from sounddomain.com and it was sort of a close match. The grille frame won't really stay in there that well though, so I used some silicone sealer (for vinyl pools and stuff) that my dad had and put a dab on a few of the corners, and pushed it in there, and it stayed on very well, and was pretty hard to get off, but it will come off without damaging the panel. The box is really easy to put in. I just sold mine, so I had to pull it out, and got it out in less than 30 minutes. You will need a T-45 bit for the seatbelt bolt. I think it is a T-45, not 100% sure, though. Come to think of it, there was a bolt/screw on the bottom of the box that I just took out, and I think maybe you might drill a hole in the floor and from underneath screw it into the box. That is the only thing I can think of that might attatch it to the body.

BTW-The grille from MTX was about $10.

Thanks Rock, you're the man!

YEah, well what can I say?? j/k I wish I had a pic of the grille to show you, but I think you get what I mean. I was told by the guy I bought the box from to just get the grille from the dealer, but I thought the same thing as you did. I'd sell it to you, but I gave it to Mudd***** cause he bought my box from me.

Non prob, $10 just means I'm not eating 2 Mickey D combos this week. Prolly can do without those anyway! I need to get some extra bits from MTX anyway. Those guys have absolutely the best customer support.

I agree, when I talked to them they were really really nice to me, and they knew exactly what I was talking about when I was describing to them what I was looking for.
