It seems that I have somehow lost the manual control lever off of the trans I am installing in my 97 5.0 AWD (thinks the Dodge Durango guy who helped him stole it can't trust a Dodger)
the one that came with the original trans will not fit the replacement trans, the original is oblong shaped the other is diamond shaped
I was wondering if that is a common thing among these transmissions both are 4R70W one a 96 the other a 97

Are you referring to the lever on the shaft out the side of the transmission, or the manual valve in the valve body? (I am guessing the former.) Try a tranny shop, they sometime have junk boxes of parts. There is a place here in Sacramento that tears down trannies and sells parts. If you strike out elsewhere I can give you their name and number.... they will have a replacement used one I bet.... you'll need the year of the replacement obcviously. 96 thru 98 saw a lot of changes in the tranny. Apparently the level was one of them.

Yes sir that would be it, I found out about that today, I could modify this one to fit but wouldnt be sure if it would be accurate with the sensor and all so I love to go to salvage yards *never know what you will find* thats where I will be Saturday anyways
