Question on back seat amp mounting

My great little Blaupunkt 400W amp died on me. It's no longer made so I had to buy something else that had the same power, but this came at the cost of bigger size. So now the new Blaupunkt amp will not fit behind the passenger rear panel like my old amp was. A bit pissed about that. So I'm going to have to mount it to the back seat panel.
My question is can I mount it directly to the back seat panel or do I need some sort of board bolted to the seat 1st then mount the amp to the board?

I have attached amps to the back seat plenty of time. no board needed. just use short screws.

Well happy happy joy joy, My amp did fit behind the panel. Now will it over heat is the question. Time will tell.
