question on trans years

Alot of tranny's i'm looking up here the list 5r55e from 1997-2004 i thought the 97's were one year only like special breed.No other years would work thats what i was told

The 1997 version has an extra sensor (ODS). You could bypass it with a jumper wire if you use a 5R55E from a different year. # 7 in my list of useful threads has more information.

It was bypassed by Ford on a recall so i guess if it does or doesn't have the ods it won't matter
