Quick aal question

I bought some 4dr leaf packs and i got to installing the aal's so i read the write up and started to follow the process. I went and bought 2 2.5" x 3/8 bolts to replace the center pin and i noticed that after the old pin was out there was going to be alot of compressing to get this new one tightened with the nut. My QUESTION is do i need a longer bolt or exactly how much am i supposed to compress to get the bolt and nut fastened. Thanks

just put a couple of c clamps on either side and twist them down

get two blocks of wood and lay the springs perpendicular across the blocks, have a friend(preferably big) stand on them to compress them, then c clamp as many leaves as u can, one clamp on each end of the leaves. then bolt on side back up, then put the u bolts and pin through the spring perch and tighten down the nuts, then i used my little car jack to jack the un bolted end of the leaf pack down toward the shackle so i could bolt it back up
