As far as I know, you would have to change the rearview mirror or at least that part that it attaches to and possibly the wiper stalk. Not sure about any programing that may be involved. Since it isn't offered as a 'standalone' option, it may be a bit involved to do the work.
The sensor is located in the part of the mirror assembly that attaches to the windshield.

Its a special windshield too if I'm not mistaken, when I had a windshield replaced the glass guy asked me if I had autosense wipers or not.

The Rain Sense windshield has the mount installed on it for the detection module.
