Rangers and overhead consoles?

Will the interior metal roof on Rangers accommodate the bracket for a overhead console from a second gen Explorer like the second gens will even if they don't have an overhead console? Or would the roof have to be modified in order for one to fit? No Rangers came from the factory with an overhead console did they?

Dkchrist put one in his ranger, not sure what all it took to make it work though.
