would it work to spray your rear windows with black paint? like if you just covered the insides of the windows so that it was totally mirrored on the outside? has anyone done this?

we're thinking about trying it on my friends f150, but maybe on expo5.0 if it works, i hate the stupid curtesy tint and i'm not sure just adding 5 percent to it will make me happy

go for it.... i am going to replace my windows with sheetmetal....

you talkin full out black paint? if you are when i used to do spl comps in my celica since you could see out the back 3 windows anyway we just spay painted them gloss black from the inside a few coats... and i did 2 layers of 5% on the front the back windows look flawless from the outside and black as can be.

i'd love to replace them with sheet metal, but i'm not that good/don't have that much time right now. if i could i'd replace em with sheet metal, shorten it about a foot and a half and lengthen the two front doors and have them suicide style and as the only doors, but thats not the point.

it sounds like you guys are saying this would work though? i guess we'll try it on his crappy truck and go from there...

It should work fine...Just make sure that the window is real clean to start with, and remember you wont be able to see out the back window at all (which may be illegal in some states) So hopefully you use your mirrors ;) Good luck, and let us know how it turns out, I was thinking of doing the same but went with 5% in the back...

I really don't think its a good idea. Just seems like a messy job that would be a ***** to reverse. 2 layers of 5% would be a better altnernative IMO.

i have thought about just burning my truck to the ground. then i could get a 98 5.0, and not have to worry about the dated, 1989 looking courtesy tint. im sick of it. damn you Ford, damn you.:nono:

I can see the paint lasting real long on glass , but then again I never have tried it.

painting the windows sounds pretty half-assed to me. go with the 5% - i used to have it on my old 91 with the stupid courtesy tint.

well keep in mind i'm mostly asking if we should try it on a 92 f150 that is about rusted to the ground... so if it doesn't work it doesn't matter that much. besides couldn't you just scrape it right off with a razor blade?

as for the 5 percent tint- i have some in my basement right now and i intend to throw it on their soon. i'm a little concerned with doing the rear glass though, how does it work with the defrost stips and stuff??? how did you guys get around the little metal part that the wires connect to for them? etc.

oh, i didnt know the f150 was a turd, heh.

as for the 5% tint on the rear glass - it depends. when i had mine professionally done, i used my defroster and it didnt affect anything; other guys have the tint actually melt, though - i guess its all which brand of tint you use maybe.

Naw, it wont melt the tint or anything, and just cut a small hole for the metal part to go through. Make sure you use 2 or 3 pieces for the back glass tho, as it has a slight curve to it...Good luck man...

how do you suggest cutting the pieces? i know you just did i so you must know what works. did you just do three even ones across? or what? thanks man

well, im bored, so ill go try to take some pics...lol

Okay, yea boredom...

So yea, just cut out for the metal thing, and then cut a VERY straight line, (I cut mine in half) or they make kits just for the back window, ive used those before, they make it pretty easy...Let me know if you have any more ?s, I should be here...lol

thanks man. i'll probably do it tomorrow. my projects are sort of winding down... piaa's are in and aligned, carpet is just about in, doors are painted, everythings rewired and all i have left is fire extinguisher mounting, tint, finishing my flamed tail lights, carpet for the cargo area, and a new switch panel.

Make sure you do it inside, im sure it has to be somewhat warm, (50-60 degrees?) and inside is the only way to keep dust out of it...good luck man!

on my Jeep i had to use 2 peices and even though it was perfectly on the drfrost lines it still looked like ass. I know how picky Expo is about his car..you might want to get the rear window kit or try to use a blow dryer and make the tint conforn to the window. I am not tryin to be a smartass vairking, i just know in my case (i am VERY picky) it did not look good at all.
