has anyone heard a raven muffler on a 5.0 mustang or explorer or an explorer with any engine for that matter. A guy at the midas up where i live at said he would give me a deal on a muffler, tip and pipe. i heard it on his old full size jimmy but he had true duals with 3 " piping and turndowns so i couldnt really tell if i liked it since i figured mine would sound alot different. so if anyone can help me out that would rock. im stuck between this and a flowmaster i can get installed for 125. so let me know if you know anything about this muffler. thanks major

Do a search, someone had the Raven systen installed and if I recall right they liked it. Other diehards will say only Borla or Flowmasters will suffice. It's personal preference some people want a loud rumble and someone here kept changing becuase the muffler was too loud.

I THINK YOU WILL LIKE IT!!!

I got the ravin installed on my x about 1 1/2 years ago and have had no problems it sounds great low rumble when at idle but a loud roar when on the gas hard. lots of people come up to me and ask if i have swapped in a v8 , but unfortunataly i have to say noooo.:nono: :us:

ok cool i think ill try to get that welded up over christmas break (still in college). thanks for the responses. Major

oh yea i forgot to ask this can you please comment on the resonance inside the explorer while intown and at about 70 mph thanks again major

Dave, what model number do you have installed?

Curtis,
Thanks, I would really appreciate that. :)

I remember somebody posting last spring that he had one put on, cat on back with 2.25" pipe, and he said he got 4mpg better. That is a buttload of mpg's for just a cat-back. I also think he had a 55 series.

Sound level?

How do the Ravin's compare with Borla, Gibson, Flowmaster, etc... I really don't want an extremely loud setup. I want one that's sounds nice, but won't be annoying when cruising on the interstate.

Ravin

My friend just got a RAVIN muffler installed on his 1999 Chevy Tahoe 4door at Midas yesterday. I know this doesn't really pertain to Explorers but I think his muffler he got sounds soooo badass. It isn't annoyingly loud but it is definitely noticable with a real low growl. I am prob. gonna get a Z55 model w/ 2.25" on my X. Peace.

I'm starting to think I'll get some.

I'm hearing lots of good things about these Ravin mufflers. At first I figured that it was just some crap that Midas was trying to sell, but it seems to actually be really good.

yeah im gonna get one, 55 series, as soon as i get $ either that or convince my parents the X needs a new muffler. by putton a hole in it :D im also gonna see how large of piping i can get going back and still maintain the right amount of back pressure. like maybe 2.5 :chug:

Curtis, I wouldn't go any larger than 2.5. I had planned on getting an exhaust this coming summer and I want it to be 2.25 all the way. But a cat-back 2.5 wouldn't be that bad.
