So...my bride apparently mistook my rearview mirror for a trapeze. While adjusting it to suit her needs, she pulled it off of the windshield. I'm trying to fugure out how to reattach it.

What she actually did was cause the plastic housing/mirror assembly to detach itself from the mounting bracket, leaving the mounting bracket attached to the windshield. My visual inspection suggests she didn't break anything. Instead it appears the mirror assembly came "unsnapped" from the 4 claws that hold the assembly to the mounting bracket.

Try as I might I am unable to "snap" this back into place, or even align it to snap into place since the plastic hood is blocking my view.

Naturally this happened on a Saturday at 11 am, just a bit too late to take the Sport to either a Ford dealership or a body shop. So unless I can figure this out, I'm stuck for the balance of the weekend.

Has anyone encountered this issue? If so, what advice can you give me on how to proceed?

Thanks for responses.

Have you tried using a phone's front camera to ensure you're lining up the mirror to the mounting bracket?

Fixed it.

Turns out the mirror assembly "twists" into place on it's mounting bracket. The 4 claws on the mirror assembly ("MRA") fit underneath 4 corresponding lugs on the MRA's mounting bracket, and that mounting bracket (which includes the rain sensor) is, in turn, adhered (with strong glue) to the windshield. With help (and much younger eyes) from a neighbor, we positioned the MRA so that we could then rotate (clockwise) the MRA, causing those claws to "snap" into place underneath the corresponding lugs.

3 hours of fruitless research on the net, followed by a 4-minute conversation with my neighbor and a 1-minute positioning-and-snapping session.

Shame is, there were zero posts anywhere on the net for this issue.

Well, there's one now.

Now...on to replacing the electronic timer switch that turns on/off my home's outside perimeter lighting, and then trouble-shooting electrical gremlins that are bedeviling my 22-year-old Corvette.
