hi,
my rear rotor on my 97 4wd is badly scored, and needs replacing, i tried to take it off already, but it wouldnt come off, is there a trick to removing it? i thought just by removing the brake calipers and it would slide off, but that wasnt the case. thanks in advance...

They can be nearly impossible to get off sometimes. first thing is to take off the rubber plug on the back of the dust shield off(near the bottom) there is a small gear there that retracts and tightens the e-brake. on the drivers side rotate it up and the pass side down. keep loosening it untill it wont move. then take a sledge and pound on the back of the rotor. good luck.
after you replace the rotor you have to tighten the ebrake using the same method in reverse untill it comes in contact with the rotor.

put a 2x4 on the rotor when u are hammaring..wouldnt want to break a peice of metal off in ur face lol
