I redid the hatch and lights, shaved the emblems off, filled scratches and dents, added the tail light guards that I got from Four0Sport (thank you), got em, sanded em, fixed the rust, got em chromed.

Only thing now is i need to get the AAA sticker off and mod my door a lil bit to clear the guards

oh yeah, chrome painted them, not chrome dipped, chrome painted the side of the window as well, same thing with the part where the front door meets back doors and the mirrors.

If you want those tail light guards to last, see what jtsmith can do for you with his powdercoating. I was going to have my billet grill done black, but never had the money. He's VERY fair with pricing, almost to the point I don't see how he makes a profit, if any.

He might be able to do a chrome color like you have it now, just more durable.

Edit:
Just noticed you said you have to modify it a little so it'll clear the guards, they aren't on the wrong sides are they? Just a thought...

For that sticker, try to peel off what you can by hand, then use some goo gone on a soft sponge and soak it as best you can. That's how I got the tape off of my explorer when I "painted" it. Took the tape off, but there was a lot of adhesive that had dried on it.

how are you going to fix the hatch issue?

That's what made me think they may be on reverse sides. Look at the bottoms, looks like it's higher, exposing the bottom of the tail light. Maybe they can be reversed to have that extra clearance at the top.

....theres always the hand held grinder method

im using the grinder method, before i bought the X it was wrecked, the person never finished fixing the driver side rear light etc, so its a lil bent out and rubs, so i just gotta grain a lil off of the door for it. i tried flipping etc, look the same either way, just had the square at the top instead of the bottoms. getting them powder coated, dont know yet, so far this budget build is turning into a bigger budget then i thought, lol.
