Rear Differential Question (Please Help)

I have a question so I'm looking for a rear differential for my 1997 awd v8. I have been to a few junk yards and found v8 differential supposedly from a v8 but they don't match the tab that is on my differential. So my question is do the numbers have to match 100%? or as long as it has the same 3.73 ratio and limited slip? Any help is appreciated, thank u.

The gear ratio must be the same as your front diff. It's possible the unit being shown is not from the same year vehicle as yours. imp

You need one from a 96-01 v8. You need one from a v8 since they have traction bars. About 75% of them came 3.73.
