I don't know for absolute certain... but I believe that the Sport Trac 8.8 is the same width as the 8.8 out of other explorers and/or Rangers (with a 31 count spline).
The axle is the same width as other Explorers but Ranger rear axles are 1.5" narrower. The only Ranger 8.8 with 31 spline axles is in the FX4 Level II, all other Ranger 8.8's are 28 spline. The spring and shock mounts are different on Ranger rears because Rangers are sprung-over and Explorers and Sport Tracs are sprung-under and no Ranger rears have disc brakes.
