NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I am not sure if this is the right forum to post this to or if there is another thread like this.

My rear liftgate will no longer open, with the remote or from the back itself. It will not budge, when I do press the release button on the remote, I do hear the noise but wont open. I honestly don't care if it opens anymore but the real problem is I have the DOOR AJAR sign on b/c of it. So it won't open but "technically" its open somehow. If I push it shut from the outside, the "DOOR AJAR" sign will go away.

Is there anyway I can fix this? I just want the DOOR AJAR sign gone, cause the interior lights stay on which causes the battery to drain.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

***CORRECTION*** Just to clarify, I am referring to the glass hatch, the trunk opens fine, its the actual glass portion. I wasn't sure if you refer to that as the liftgate

It's a pretty easy fix, I had the same problem. You have to open the liftgate, remove the trim panel, and look by the lock. The latch has the steel cable that basically pulls the latch, at the end of that steel cable there is a plastic end that's surely broken. I fixed it by using an electrical connector of the screw type to basically put the steel wire end back on the latch so it's able to pull it and open the liftgate glass

This also solves the liftgate ajar issue because the switch is right next to the latch

How would I open the lift gate (glass door) to remove the trim panel if it doesn't open at all?

Lift gate

You open your liftgate, remove trim panel, by pulling it of from the edges, then with a screwdriver or with your finger you can open the lock of the lift gate glass by pulling the lever where the steel cable pull attaches to

Alright, I will give it a try this weekend hopefully. Thanks for the input

I got the trim panel off for the most part, you really can't take it all off unless you can open the glass. But I don't see a steel cable to open the rear glass.

Is there something am I'm missing?

Ok, I found the steel cable. I had to cut through the plastic but I'm pulling on it and it's not opening. Do I have to pull it a certain way?

Nevermind, I got it. A piece if the covering of the steel cable was broken but the cable was intact so Im not sure if that was causing it not to open. I know the latch want budging when I pressed the button.

Nevertheless, I unplug the sensor so now I can ride in peace without the annoying noise of door ajar sensor comstantly going off.

Thanks for all your help
